2014 Turtle Trot

YAY !! I am all set for the next 2014 Turtle Trot  SAL :) I joined this SAL in 2013 and I am glad I did quite lot of cross stitching along with my crochet projects without stressing myself. This SAL is perfect for me !! To know more about this SAL and to sign up, click here.

The good thing is that this time we are supposed to pick 10 unfinished projects.  I started cross stitching last year and I met quite a few kind and adorable cross stitch friends on the blogland. I learned a lot from them and came to know about other cross stitch designers too. Thank you all for being there for me and answering my queries and appreciating my work :) And I am equally grateful to my crochet friends too who may not be into stitching, but were kind enough to take a look at my work :)

For 2013 Turtle Trot, I picked 13 projects; out of which, I completed 4 of them. I could not start 4 projects and remaining 5 are now UFOs. That’s good!! because it helped me build up a stock for UFOs which otherwise I didn’t have any. For 2014, I am carrying forward 4 of UFOs and other 6 are new projects.

First, the new projects ......

1. Ladybird fairy by Joan Elliott  from the magazine Cross stitch collection Feb 2012

2. Jungle Japes (height chart) by Durene Jones from the magazine Cross Stitch Gold  January 2013

3. Easter Chicks by Belle & Boo from the magazine Cross stitcher march 2013

4. Happy Days by Felicity Hall from the magazine Cross Stitcher july 2011

5. Blue tit by Lesley Teare from the magazine Cross stitch collection april 2013

6. Glamour puss and Book worm by Margaret Sherry from Calendar 2009

From old ones……………

7. Humming Bird Quartet by Frankie Buckley, Leisure arts

8. Hydrangea from the book Beautiful Cross Stitch Blooms by Barbara Baatz Hillman

9. Floral Border from Variegated floral border by Leisure arts

10. Nature’s charm by Dimensions

I love them all !! Do you? Hope I will do better this year and complete as many as possible . Wish me luck !! :)

Thanks for visiting this page !!

  1. What beautiful projects you have found to work on, Preeti! I especially like the little girl with the chicks because it happily reminds me of growing up on poultry farms as I did :) Although I have done some cross-stitch work in the past and some embroidery they were tiny projects in comparison to the detailed work you are doing. I admire your appreciation of color and skill and hope you find much joy and satisfaction in the work you do in 2014! ...Wishing you and yours good health as well !!!

    1. Hi Inderpreet,
I live in hyderabad so not aware about Banglore shops. I order my threads from Pradhan embroidery stores in Mumbai ...you need to add them to your facebook. I order needles and aida fabric from ponycraftstore.com
      Hope this helps.

    2. Thanks for the Information. I am trying to work on a design that has the specifications of DMC threads. I have tried many online sites for conversion from DMC to Anchor numbers, but most of the numbers mentioned for Anchor do not exist. Can you help me out with this?
